The Minor Arcana — The Texture of Life

Fifty-six cards for the fabric of ordinary experience.

About 4 minutes

The fifty-six cards of the Minor Arcana describe the fabric of everyday experience — the situations, relationships, emotions, and decisions that make up a life. They are divided into four suits of fourteen cards each, numbered Ace through Ten, followed by four court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King).

Where the Major Arcana offer cosmic truths, the Minor Arcana offer human ones. They are immediate, practical, and specific. A reading heavy with Minor Arcana speaks of the day-to-day — what you are handling, juggling, feeling, and deciding right now.

What the Numbers Carry

The numbers themselves carry meaning, and learning them is the single highest-leverage thing a beginner can do. Once you know the number and the suit, you can read a card you have never memorised.

  • Aces bring new beginnings — the pure, undiluted seed of the suit.
  • Twos bring choice and duality.
  • Threes bring creation and collaboration.
  • Fours bring stability and pause.
  • Fives bring disruption.
  • Sixes bring movement and resolution.
  • Sevens bring assessment and challenge.
  • Eights bring change and momentum.
  • Nines bring near-completion.
  • Tens bring culmination and the edge of a new cycle.
